Green Bag Review: Celery Hearts (Days 10-12)
This will be the final update of this review study to see if Debbie Meyer's Green Bags have kept celery hearts fresh, compared to being stored in a standard container.  Over the last 14 days we have been taking daily observations of how the celery hearts that were stored in a ziplock container, look compared to those stored in a Debbie Meyer Green Bag.  Each day that we observed the celery heart in the ziplock container, over the last few days you could really start to see a reduction in the size of the celery heart.  The reason why this happened, was due to the moisture in the celery heart being literally sucked out of the celery.  In the end the size of the celery heart shrank by about 25%, compared the celery heart that was stored in the Debbie Meyer Green Bag.

Also, not only the moisture was being removed from the celery heart, but the skin of celery heart became rubber like.  As you can see in the picture below, that some of the celery was actually bending while being held.  Compared to the other celery heart you don't see that same effect.

Final Verdict:  If you look over the last 12 days that we have been conducting this review, you can clearly see through the pictures we've taken of the celery hearts.  The sample that was not stored in the Debbie Meyer Green Bag did not fair as well.  Compared to the sample that was stored in the Debbie Meyer Green Bag.

Here's a few reason why, we can say that this review study shows how well Debbie Meyer Green Bags performed:

1. Moisture:  The celery heart sample stored in the Green Bag kept it's moisture, the sample outside of the Green Bag did not.
2. Freshness: By keeping it's moisture, the sample stored in the Green Bag felt and looked fresher.  The sample stored in the ziplock container, felt wilted and looked unhealthy to eat

In the end, by using Debbie Meyer Green Bags, you will be able to save yourself quite a bit of money in the long run.  By being able to stored fruits and vegetables for a longer period of time, instead of always having to go to the store and purchase new produce.  We appreciate everyone who followed us during this review study, and look forward to bringing you another review study of another fruit or vegetable stored in a Debbie Meyer Green Bag.

What does your test actually prove?

This test doesn't prove much since the celery in the plastic container is exposed to the air all the time. You should also have celery in a regular ziploc type bag and see how that compares to the green bag. The ziploc bag would also cause moisture to be retained and would better test whether the bags remove the harmful gases as they claim.

Thank you for pointing this out..

Cindy, you do bring up a good point with regards to the one celery heart being placed in an open ziplock container. We are going to conduct another test. This time 1 celery heart will be in a regular ziplock lock bag, and the other celery heart will be in a Debbie Meyer Green Bag.
