In our previous blog entry regarding our review of Debbie Meyer's Green Bags, we had fantastic results with storing our Cherries, Baby Spinach and a Pineapple. But, we felt that we needed to conduct a full documented test with the green bags. We have chosen one of the fastest decomposing fruits that you can buy, Bananas, to conduct this test. We will be following the recommended instructions that were included in the box of Debbie Meyer's Green Bags. Here's our testing setup: What is the purpose of this test?: To find out if the Debbie Meyer's Green Bags will extend the freshness of our Banana's. What Produce is being Used?: We are starting this test with perfectly ripened Bananas, that were purchased from our local grocery store. Where will the Bananas be located during the test?: They will be located in our kitchen, near the window. The area does not receive any direct or indirect sunlight. How will this test be conducted?: Every 2-3 days we will wipe out any noticeable moisture build up, with a paper towel. The place the Bananas in the bag, and close the bag by folding to seal. While 1 of the Bananas will be kept outside of the Green Bag. Make sure to check back each day, as we will be posting our observations and sharing them with you. PS - Also on Thursday we purchased perfect White Button Mushrooms and stored them in Debbie Meyer's Green Bags in the crisper drawer of the fridge; they stayed so fresh and flavorful they did not make it to qualify for this test, and were all eaten by today. |
