| Aerogarden Update: Romaine lettuce stopped growing |

Well, we planted our Romaine Lettuce seed kit back on Sept 3rd. The seeds sprouted within about 24-36 hours and had been growing just fine. But, in the last two weeks all growth has stopped on all plants and we are now getting dead leaves showing up around the base of the plants. As far as our routine, we've kept the water reservoir nearly full and added the nutrient tablets as directed (every 2 weeks). This is our second garden, we grew the salad greens kit previously without any problems. Not exactly sure what could possibly be the issue, a few thoughts had crossed my mind. (1) When I cleaned the Aerogarden after the salad greens kit, I followed the directions per the manual. Could it be that there could of been a residue left from when I cleaned that has contaminated the water? (2) Grow lights not functioning properly? But why would of the plants responded so well, then start to slowly die.. (3) Filter issue? I did make sure to wash it out before placing it back into it's slot. I have made sure that the pump it working and that water is flowing over the roots (which are small and have not grown much in the last week). I've thought about changing out the water to see if there might be something with the water in the reservoir that could be causing this. Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated. You can see from our previous enteries that the plants were looking healthy. I'm going to be sending an email to Aerogrow to see what they have to say about this problem. I will post their responses, as I we receive them. |
