| AeroGarden Review: Romaine Lettuce (Days 13-15) |
|
The romaine lettuce plants are continuing to develop quite well, though we have had to go through and clean up some dead leaves that showed up around the base of a couple of plants.
This is perfectly normal when growing lettuce plants in your Aerogarden. So, we took a pair of twizzer's and carefully trimmed out the dead leaves from around the plants. You want to make sure and not PULL on the leaves, since they could come out of the grow sponge. One thing to note, is that you want to keep a very close eye on this, as we noted during our growning of the salad greens is that towards the end we didn't keep up with the cleaning of the dead leaves from around the plants. It did take somewhat of a toll on the plants, and killed some of the healthy leaves around it. We did also add two nutrient tablets to the Aeroponic chamber on Wednesday, which marks the two week mark since we planted this garden. In addition, we have been keeping a very close on the Aeroponic chamber, to make sure that the root system is establishing itself which can be seen in the additional pictures below. We are getting excited to be able to start harvesting some good romaine lettuce here in the next couple of weeks. View: AeroGarden Review: Romaine Lettuce (Days 16-18) |
